Major commodities in the export supply of Uruguay and Paraguay
will enter Venezuela with zero-tariff, upon the enforcement
of Venezuela's Adhesion Protocol to Mercosur expected to be
signed Tuesday in Caracas, with the participation of the heads
of the bloc member states.
The Protocol has a schedule including two listings of goods
-one for Uruguay and another for Paraguay. Such items "will
get the benefit of tariff immediate remission," Minister of
Trade and Integration Gustávo Márquez confirmed
during an interview with state TV channel VTV.
"This is a token of Venezuela to acknowledge that the principle
of asymmetries among our nations should be enforced indeed,"
he pointed out.
Márquez conceded unbalances within the integration system,
some of them punctual, and recommended partners to follow
the example of the European Union, where countries such as
Spain and Portugal receive a treatment similar to super powers
Germany and France.
