    Thursday 9th September, 2010
    (IANS)

A medical team from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has vaccinated over 79,000 Pakistani people living in relief camps in the flood-hit areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan.

Over 1,700 people have died and millions have been displaced by one of the worst floods in the country.

The UAE's Red Crescent Authority (RCA) conducted vaccination camps in Nowshera and nearby towns in the province in cooperation with the Unicef.

A total of 625,000 people would be vaccinated in the coming days against measles and tetanus, a statement said.

The RCA is also conducting a health awareness campaign to educate people on preventive measures to check spread of diseases.
