Flat Rock Grille eyes major expansion
Charlotte Business Journal
Flat Rock Grille Holding Inc., a Charlotte-based seafood and steak restaurant group, plans to add 30 to 40 locations over the next six years.
To assist with the expansion, Flat Rock Grille has hired Foremark, a Dallas-based real estate brokerage firm that provides real estate acquisition and development services for emerging restaurant companies.
Financial terms of the contract weren't disclosed.
Flat Rock Grille operates six restaurants in the Carolinas, Virginia and Alabama. Its specialties include fire-grilled seafood and meats served in a setting of a natural, mountain lodge.
"Our flagship store opened late last year in Charlotte to overwhelming success," says Fred LeFranc, the chain's chief operating officer. "Customer response to our revitalized menu and concept has been incredible and has shown us that the time is right to expand."
Le Franc has more than 25 years of restaurant experience. Most recently, he was president of Ruby's Diner, a California-based 1940s-style diner chain operating 41 restaurants in seven states.
The company is negotiating for new locations in the Charlotte; Raleigh-Durham; Atlanta and Augusta, Ga.; Birmingham and Montgomery, Ala.; and Nashville, Tenn.
Flat Rock Grille is a privately held company owned by Lovett-Miller & Co. Inc., Jefferson Capital and SSM Ventures.
The restaurant chain moved its headquarters to 6135 SouthPark Drive in Charlotte last year from Tampa, Fla.
