    US condemns Pakistan bombings
    Nepal National
    Friday 12th March, 2010
    (IANS)

The US Friday condemned the bombings in Pakistan's Lahore city that left 48 people dead, saying there is no justification for killing innocent people.

'The coordinated multiple attacks in Lahore demonstrate the suffering that violent extremist elements are willing to inflict on the people of Pakistan, people who only wish to go about their daily lives in peace,' Xinhua reported quoting Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

At least 48 people were killed and 95 wounded in two suicide bomb attacks in Lahore Friday. After these attacks, five successive low-intensity blasts rocked the city. There was, however, no casualty in these blasts.

Pakistani authorities suspect militants linked to Al Qaeda are behind the attacks, which were the deadliest in Pakistan this year.

'There is no justification for killing innocent people,' Clinton said in a statement, adding the US will continue to stand 'shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Pakistan in their aspirations for peace and security'.
